Leonardo’s Vineyard: Wine, History, and Genius in Vinci

By 13 May 2025May 22nd, 2025No Comments

In 2019, to mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, Villa Dianella chose to honor him in a special way: by bringing back to his homeland the Malvasia di Candia grapes from Leonardo’s original vineyard, located at the Atellani House in Milan. This is how La Vigna di Leonardo a Vinci was born — a project that brings together agriculture, culture, and creativity.

Today, guests can visit this symbolic vineyard and take part in experiences inspired by Leonardo’s legacy: from tastings of historical wines — like l’Orpicchio and l’Acquarosa (the latter based on a recipe from the Atlantic Codex) — to real “Leonardian” cooking classes or private dinners in Leonardo’s vineyard.

Leonardian Cooking Classes
These lessons tell the story and reimagine the dishes of the time, showcasing utensils inspired by Leonardo’s drawings and fun facts about the cuisine of Ludovico il Moro’s court. The menu, made with simple yet refined ingredients, always ends with the signature wine: l’Orpicchio, dedicated to Leonardo’s genius.

Private Dinners in Leonardo’s Vineyard
An experience that goes beyond taste: a journey into the mind and flavors of one of the greatest Italians of all time — all paired with Villa Dianella wines.
