Recipe of the Month – Grape-based preparations: the fruit that tells the story of the harvest

By 1 September 2025September 4th, 2025No Comments

September is the month of grapes. In the vineyards of Villa Dianella, harvest is the central moment of the year, and this fruit is not only destined for wine, but also becomes a star in the kitchen.
The recipe of the month is actually a small journey through different dishes and preparations, all grape-based, to show just how versatile and surprising it can be. From breakfast to lunch, and even dinner, grapes bring freshness, color, and authentic flavor.

Sangiovese juice with mint: pure natural energy

A simple and healthy way to start the day.
Prepare it with Sangiovese grapes and apple, passed through an extractor or juicer, then add ice and mint. The resulting juice is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, perfect for rehydrating and filling up on energy.

Chicken with grapes: a surprising second course

White chicken meat pairs beautifully with the sweetness of grapes.
Simply brown the chicken in a pan with oil and garlic, deglaze with white wine, then add halved, seedless grapes (preferably Malvasia or Moscato). The resulting sauce is delicate, creamy, and enveloping, perfect with simple sides such as white rice or roasted potatoes.
It’s a dish that blends rural tradition and creativity.

Focaccia with grapes: sweet and savory

In Tuscany it’s a great harvest classic: schiacciata with grapes, soft and fragrant, made with bread dough, sugar, and black grapes.
But grapes can also become a savory ingredient: added to a focaccia dough with rosemary and coarse salt, they bring a sweet note that contrasts with the savoriness and makes the recipe unique.
A perfect dish for an aperitivo with Dianella wines.

Crispy grape risotto: elegance on the table

Crispy grape risotto is a refined and little-known first course.
It’s prepared like a classic risotto: toasting the rice and adding vegetable broth. Halfway through cooking, add sliced grapes and a few drops of white wine. The final creaming with butter and parmesan binds the flavors, while the grapes give a sweet-and-sour contrast that surprises the palate.
A dish that pairs beautifully with our whites and rosés.

Grapes in the kitchen: tradition and seasonality

These recipes are born from the desire to enhance seasonality: in September, grapes are abundant, fresh, and full of aroma. Bringing them to the table means paying homage to the countryside and transforming a fruit symbolic of harvest into everyday dishes that are simple yet special.

At the Bistrot delle Scuderie we celebrate seasonality with dishes that change month after month, and September is without a doubt the month of grapes.
